TC2 & TMI2 - High Volume Roads Traffic Course Melbourne

Our (TC2) RIISS00059 Traffic Controller Skill Set for High Volume Roads and (TMI2) RIISS00061 Traffic Management Implementer Skill Set for High Volume Roads courses in Melbourne covers the functions required for traffic control and traffic Management on Temporary Traffic Management Category 2 environments as described in the Austroads Guide to Temporary Traffic Management.

This package is designed for individuals who have already completed Traffic Controller (TC1) and Traffic Management Implementation 1 (TMI1) courses and are looking to advance their skills and career opportunities in traffic management.

TTM Category 2 are high-volume roads, excluding freeways. Characteristics include signalised intersections, multi-lane or divided roads, and major urban roads. These are mostly arterial roads and include complex environments, such as two-lane roundabouts.

This course is offered on both weekdays and weekends, with indoor and outdoor assessment conditions available.

TC2 & TMI2 - High Volume Roads Traffic Course Details and Duration

The combined TC2 and TMI2 Theory (face to face Class) will run over (2) two days 14 hours, not including your post course practical studies.

Austroads Practical Logbook Completion and live assessment

Post course TC2 - Learners are required to complete at least 20 hours of supervised practical training experience on category (2) two roads with a registered traffic management company, within at least six months of successfully completing the theoretical component (2-day course).

Post course TMI2 - Learners are required to complete at least (3) three different types of setups based on Traffic Management Plans and Traffic Guidance Schemes relevant to their working conditions, within at least six months of successfully completing the theoretical component (2-day course).

The following pre-requisites apply for participants of the (TC2 / TMI2) Category 2 Traffic Course in Melbourne:

TC2 prerequisites are:

  • Completion of TC1 RIISS00058 Traffic Controller Skill Set for Urban Streets and Low Volume Rural Roads
  • At least 40 hours of experience as a traffic controller after completion of TC1

TMI2 prerequisites are:

  • Completion of the TMI1 RIISS00060 Traffic Management Implementer Skill Set for Urban Streets and Low Volume Rural Roads (TMI Essentials); and
  • At least one month experience applying skills and knowledge relevant to the above-mentioned skill set in a temporary traffic management workplace;
    and/or
  • Providing evidence of relevant experience setting up at least 12 temporary traffic management types which may include high speed roads or high-volume roads, and at least two of the following types:
    • pedestrian and cyclist controls
    • construction sites
    • lane closures
    • shoulder closures
    • night works
    • use of portable traffic control devices
    • motorways or freeways

On successful completion of all course requirements and assessments, you will receive Statements of Attainments for the skills sets (TC2) RIISS00059 Traffic Controller Skill Set for High Volume Roads and (TMI2) RIISS00061 Traffic Management Implementer Skill Set for High Volume Roads.

Within 30 days of successful course completion students will also receive a Digital Training Card.

Credit Transfer: Not Applicable

The units provide credit towards several Certificate II and Certificate III qualifications in the RII Resources and Infrastructure Industry Training Package and other training packages, such as RII30920 Certificate III in Civil Construction or equivalent.
