Forklift Licence Course Melbourne
Short Courses Australia is accredited to deliver the TLILIC0003 Forklift truck training (LF - Licence to Perform High Risk Work) course in Melbourne.
This course covers the functions required to operate a forklift truck and to then apply for a high risk work licence with Work Safe Victoria.
This course is for persons wanting to be employed as a certified forklift truck operator.
Our experienced licensed high-risk trainers work with participants to ensure they are confident and competent in operating a forklift truck within a Victorian business environment.
This course is offered on weekdays and weekends, with indoor and outdoor assessment conditions available.
The key areas covered by this course include:
- Assessing hazards and planning the work
- Planning and setting up the forklift ready for operations
- Conducting risk assessment and implementing control measures
- Conducting routine checks of equipment
- Operating the forklift
- Manoeuvring forklift around various routes
- Practicing different types of lifts and carrying various weights
- Calculating and determining load capacity
- Shutting down and securing the forklift.
Forklift Licence Course Details
Participants can select one of two training options:

Participants who have experience driving a forklift should enrol into the two (2) day course. Duration:16 hours. Cost: $350.00
- Short Courses Australia strongly recommend that participants who have not operated a forklift previously to book into the three (3) day course. Duration: 24 hours. Cost $500.00
Each course consists of pre-study and pre-course assessments.
The course is composed of (3) three parts.

Day 1

Part 1 - Pre-Course work(Students who complete all pre-work successfully can now attend Part 2 - Day 1)

Part 2 is for practical workplace risk assessment and learning forklift controls and driving placement of (4) four load types. Including theory revision and assessment of TLILIC0003 Forklift truck training.

Day 2is for (Licence to Perform High Risk Work - LF) assessment.
This day no training is delivered you will be assessed across the day with your licensed LF work safe assessor.- Day 3 consist of three (3) assessments/categories.

The following pre-requisites apply for participants of the Forklift Course in Melbourne:
- (USI) Number-Unique Student Identification. If you do not have a USI one can be obtained from www.usi.gov.au.
- Be a minimum of 18 years of age.
- Photo proof of ID (drivers licence/passport).
- Have the necessary levels of health and fitness to safely operate a Forklift Truck.
- Have basic numeracy skills.
- Demonstrate ability to speak and write English to a basic level.
Note: Please inform us upon registration If you feel you have any literacy or numeracy difficulties. Some reasonable adjustments to the course can be made to assist.

On successful completion of this Forklift Licence Melbourne course you will receive a Statement of Attainment; TLILIC0003 Licence to operate a forklift truck and a temporary WorkSafe Forklift Licence; LF - Licence to Perform High Risk Work, NOA (notice of Assessment) this temporary licence needs to be submitted to Australia Post within 60 days of completion of course, along with a fee of $71.55 to WorkSafe Victoria. You will then receive your (5) five-year Forklift licence/ticket.
*Students can use the statement of TLILIC0003 Licence to operate a forklift truck in NSW, ACT, QLD, SA, NT, TAS and WA.

The cost of reassessment for the LF - Licence to Perform High Risk Work is $150.00.
This fee applies to any section of the assessment that a participant is deemed not competent.
Participants should allow up to one (1) day, or 6-8 hours for the re-assessment.
What if I have never operated a forklift before

What if I didn't pass any of the days (parts)
Unsuccessful Part 1 (pre-Work) students will not be able to commence the training and must reschedule.
Unsuccessful Part 2 (day 1) students must reattend Day 1 again, Additional Fees may apply
Unsuccessful Part 3 (day 2) students either re-book for the whole course again or do a re-assessment* for the category they have missed.
*Re-Assessment - as part of the Work safe assessment students can request a certified re-assessment of (Licence to Perform High Risk Work - LF) and complete any part that they require to be deemed competent, students can complete re-assessment at any certified training organisation - costs apply to book your reassessment click here
Re-assessment students MUST produce their results NOA (Notice of Assessment) and I.D. to the organisation and certified trainer to be eligible for re-assessments.
For example:
- If a student is competent in one or more of the 3 categories but fails in any, they have 60 days to repeat the not yet competent attempt, but their successful attempts remain valid for 60 days,
- Outside of 60 days, all successful results are cancelled. You must pay and complete the (2) two-day course again.
