RGBO - Responsible Gambling Board Oversight Sydney

Short Courses Australia offer the Responsible Gambling Board Oversight (RGBO) training course approved by Liquor & Gaming NSW. Mandatory training requirements for Club Directors in NSW have been introduced as a part of the 1 July gaming reforms. By 30 June 2025 one of the following training requirements must be met by all Club Directors of venues with gaming machines in NSW:

• Completion of the Responsible Conduct of Gambling (RCG) and Advanced Responsible Conduct of Gambling (ARCG) training courses or
• Completion of a Responsible Gambling Board Oversight (RGBO) training course approved by L&GNSW.

Responsible Gambling Board Oversight (RGBO) | Course Content

Completion of the Responsible Gambling Board Oversight (RGBO) training course approved by L&GNSW is a way for Club Directors of venues in NSW with gaming machines to meet gaming reform training requirements. The course is a one-hour abridged version of the Advanced Responsible Conduct of Gambling (ARCG) course, equipping Club Directors with a high-level understanding of their venue's responsibility to minimise gambling harm. In order to allow Club Directors time to complete this new course product, the previous training requirement deadline of 31 December 2024 has been extended to 30 June 2025.

RGBO Course Delivery & Duration

Short Courses Australia deliver the Liquor & Gaming NSW Responsible Gambling Board Oversight (RGBO) training:

• in a classroom setting (face-to-face or virtual)
• in a one (1) hour time frame
• meet the RGBO classroom delivery student size limits: face-to-face (25), virtual (20)
• include the issuance of a course completion certificate and retained on file as evidence of completion.

Will I Receive An NSW Competency Card Endorsement

RGBO training does not include an NSW competency card endorsement, therefore Liquor & Gaming NSW enrolment is not required. Club Directors must retain their Short Courses Australia issued certificate as proof of training completion.
