Food Safety Handler (FSH)

In this 4-hour course, participants receive a certificate in SITXFSA005 Use hygienic practices for food safety.

The course is relevant to any person seeking employment in hospitality and services type roles that directly handle food or food contact surfaces such as cutlery, plates, and bowls during the course of their daily work activities, including restaurants, cafes, clubs, hotels, and bars; function, event, exhibition and conference catering; aged care facilities; hospitals; cafeterias, kiosks, canteens, and fast food outlets; and transport catering.

Food Safety Supervisor

A Food Safety Supervisor is required to hold the national unit competence SITXFSA005 + SITXFSA006.

This course runs for 6 hours within your own venue (location) This course includes the unit of competencies SITXFSA005 + SITXFSA006.

The food safety supervisor course covers the following criteria:

  • The Victorian Food Act 1984;
  • Correct food handling procedures;
  • Controlling micro-organisms;
  • Personal hygiene;
  • Environmental hygiene;
  • Temperature control;
  • Thermometer use and recording procedures;
  • Managing your business or community groups food safety plan.
