RSA, RCG, Licensee, and Advanced Licensee training
To work in the liquor and gaming industry in NSW, you need to undertake training. NSW has a tiered industry training framework which ensures that you are able to complete the relevant training when your role requires it.
Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) training is the foundation in order to sell, serve or supply liquor. Depending on your duties you may also need Responsible Conduct of Gambling (RCG) training. Gaming machines are allowed in registered clubs and hotels and venue staff have additional responsibilities when operating gaming machines.
People who would like to work in senior roles that have greater responsibilities under the liquor laws will be required to complete additional training. Licensee training is a requirement for most licensees, approved managers and club secretaries.
Advanced Licensee training is an additional course for those who may operate a business in a higher risk environment, such as venues that trade regularly after midnight.
Only a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) approved by L&GNSW can conduct approved NSW competency card training and issue certificates.
The price charged for the RSA, RCG, Licensee, or Advanced Licensee training courses vary between RTOs. The amount you pay includes the cost for your NSW competency card.
